X-Men Danger Room Protocols

The animated fan series X-Men: Danger Room Protocols has officially been cancelled by creator Joel Furtado.

Furtado released a video today explaining his feelings and frustrations about the situation.

"The most heartbreaking thing is that this company I have idolized my entire life," Furtado says, "and am meeting for the first time professionally, and this is the experience that we've gone through. Marvel is looking at me as an enemy, and that is never what I wanted."

The series, which Furtado has been working on for the past year, would have featured a different pairing of '90s era X-Men teaming up to take on iconic villains in a different Danger Room scenario with each episode. The first episode, featuring Wolverine and Jean Grey taking on Sentinels, was released on Jan. 19, and was quickly removed from YouTube. Furtado moved the videos to Vimeo, but it seems that evasion didn't help.

ComicBook.com has reached out to Marvel for comment on the situation, and we will update this article when we receive a response.
