Comic Book Previews for September 16th, 2009

Where does the time go? It's already time for a look at what will be hitting store shelves this week from the producers of your favorite four-color adventures! DC Comics unleashes Blackest Night #3, the next chapter in the saga of Earth's heroes against the super-powered dead! Can the Green Lanterns and the Justice League begin to figure out what's causing long-departed friends, family and villains to rise and attack? The newest Batgirl spreads her wings in Batgirl #2 and a showdown in Fawcett City takes place in JSA vs. Kobra #4! Action Comics #881 picks up immediately with the aftermath of Codename: Patriot, and Supergirl finds herself under added pressure. Famed writer J. Michael Straczynski takes helm with issue 27 of The Brave and the Bold, as Batman teams with, wait for it, Dial H for Hero!! Also be sure to check out Batman and Robin #4 and Streets of Gotham #4!

Norman Osborn keeps checking his list with the release of The List: Daredevil #1 from Marvel. Bullseye has his sights set on taking out the hero of Hell's Kitchen-permanently. Thor Annual #1 also bows this week, with Thor exiled from Asgard and facing heat from the Egyptian god Seth! Irrepressible hero Moon Knight returns in the new series Vengeance of Moon Knight with issue one. Steve Rogers continues his time-displaced journey back to the present day with Captain America: Reborn #3 and the newly launched "next generation of the Ultimate universe kicks off its first big story arc with Ultimate Comics Armor Wars #1. Will this universe's Tony Stark be able to halt the rampant disappearance of his armor? One way to find out; read the book!

Dark Horse debuts an interesting new set of heroes this week with the release of Beasts of Burden #1. Spinning out of the Eisner Award-winning story, BoB presents a team of cats and dogs dedicated to stopping the otherworldly happenings occurring in their town. Star Wars fans get a double-dose of fun this week with the release of Star Wars: The Clone Wars #9 and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic #45. Image Comics brings us issue sixty-five of fan favorite The Walking Dead and The Sword continues its push towards its conclusion with issue nineteen.


Dynamite Entertainment has a couple of number ones hitting stores this week, with the first issues of both Athena, focusing on the Greek goddess of the same name, and Galactica: 1980 debuting. After you finishing watching all those DVD's that are coming out tomorrow, where one notable, adamantium-laced hero will be present, be sure to pick up your books and get to reading!
