“Hunting, Saving People: Still the Family Business” is the message for Supernatural fans going into the twelfth season of the series. That’s because instead of brothers Sam and Dean Winchester teaming up, at least at the start of the season, it’ll be the mother-son team of Mary and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles. Yes, as shown in the shocking Season 11 finale, Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith) is back, and from the looks of her brief appearance in this new promo, she’s gonna kick some ass.

Sam (Jared Padalecki, meanwhile, is all tied up at the moment, taken hostage by the British branch of the Men of Letters, who are less than impressed with the way the Winchesters have handled certain things like… you know, almost bringing about the end of all existence by releasing the Darkness (oh, and releasing Lucifer, too!) and letting God sit on the sidelines for so long – it’s been a tough last year or so for the Winchester brothers.

Rick Springfield makes his debut as Vince Vincente, the newest vessel for Lucifer, who will be going to war once more with Crowley (Mark Sheppard) as the two former kings of Hell look to retake the throne. Dean’s in chains and beaten down at the end as well – but looks like he’s his typical cocky, chill self about it all.

Supernatural‘s fan base is as strong as ever, voting the show onto the cover of Entertainment Weekly this week, and keeping it amongst the top shows not based on a DC Comics property on The CW for its entire run.

Supernatural returns to the CW on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 9 p.m.
