Five More Star Wars: The Clone Wars Characters Who Should Jump to Live Action
pull from the decades of 'Legends' material that isn't strictly in-canon.With all that in mind, [...]
Ahsoka Tano
Let's get this one out of the way right away - yes, it would be freaking awesome to see Ahsoka Tano on the big screen, in live action (hopefully still played by Ashley Eckstein, if she's willing to go through that insane makeup job!).
Here's the thing: it's probably not very likely, sadly. While she left the Jedi Order, she's still a powerful Force user with two lightsabers and extremely close ties to Darth Vader. Where would she come into a live-action story? You can't have her show up in Rogue One, where she'd throw the power dynamic way out of balance, as it's supposed to be about the average humans rising up. You can't have her meet a young Han Solo, because at the start of A New Hope he doesn't think much of those hokey religions. The only real way to do this would be to give her a solo film of her own, telling the story of what she was doing from the time she left the Jedi Order up until she becomes the Fulcrum of the Rebel Alliance. Here's hoping we at least hear a passing mention of "Fulcrum" in Rogue One!
Pretty Much Any Clone
The Clones of The Clone Wars were so very complicated, because Star Wars fans knew they were destined for one thing: turn against the Jedi and kill nearly all of them. Still, some of them managed to rebel against their programming instead, and that leaves us with some very interesting characters.
Having now met three of these Clones once more on Star Wars Rebels, it seems like they'd be the easiest pickings to bring into live action. Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor would all make great live-action characters, especially Gregor, who already has guerrilla fighting tactics that would be very useful to the nascent Rebellion, and Wolffe, who had to experience personal betrayal by the Empire to change his ways.
If there's a standalone film set deeper into the Galactic Civil War, or directly after it, it'd be interesting to catch up with one of these Clones, now aged soldiers, and see them at the other side of the war.
Bo-Katan Kryze
I'll admit, I pretty much want any Mandalorian to show up in these stand-alone films, if only so we can get more of the richness of their history that we got in The Clone Wars. Bo-Katan, being a female Mandalorian who fought both with and against the terrorist group Death Watch, and eventually grew into her own heroics, would be a very interesting character to catch up with into the Dark Times or the Galactic Civil War.
Plus, she was voiced by Katee Sackhoff, so there's a Katee Sackhoff fan casting that actually isn't forced at all!
Cham Syndulla
Cham Syndulla has been all over the map, appearing on both animated series and being one of the stars of the excellent canon novel Lords of the Sith. This bold leader, an irascible yet compassionate Twi'lek male, is also the father of Rebels pilot Hera. Cham, from his actions in all three of the Star Wars stories he's been in so far, is simply not the kind of guy that would ever stop fighting, so seeing his story come to life at a later point in the timeline would be exciting, and would be sure to light a fire under any situation.
Cad Bane
Look, bounty hunters are just plain cool. If the filmmakers behind Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (not final title), the next standalone film after Rogue One are looking for a foil for Solo, sure, there's the Empire, and there will probably be some kind of engagement there. But the bounty hunters of The Clone Wars, especially the mysterious, blue, hat-wearing Cad Bane coming to life would just make the entire fan community go berserk.
Cad Bane has that "it" factor. He's never likable, he's always looking out only for himself, but he's just so damn confident and cool while doing it. He always escapes, and somehow turns failures into successes more often than not. Rumor has it that either some bounty hunters will show up in Han Solo or a Boba Fett movie (certain to need other Bounty Hunters in the mix) could also be on the way, so Cad Bane isn't only our top choice, he's the most likely, as well.
