Last year, fans saw Star Wars return to the big screen when Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens hit theaters. During a recent interview, Davis confirmed that he would have a role in Episode VIII. “I do,” he said. “That’s all I can say.” Naturally, the actor has to keep mum about how he will be involved with the space opera. Lucasfilm and Disney are understandably protective over the film, so all parties involved with the project are staying quiet about their roles.

Later in the interview, Davis teased fans with where Star Wars will go with its new trilogy, leaving fans to wonder how much the actor knows about Episode VIII. Davis talked about The Force Awakens, saying, “There were some wonderful moments, some moving moments and it was full of all the action that we expect, so for me it ticked all the boxes. I loved it.

He went on to say, “I think it sets up the trilogy very well. Obviously, we’re moving into the territory of Episode VIII very soon as well, and much like Empire Strikes Back I’m sure it’s going to deliver some quite impactful story moments, and it’ll leave us with some cliffhangers as well which resolve in Episode IX.”

The actor isn’t the only one who has compared the upcoming flick to its predecessor, The Empire Strikes Back. Adam Driver described the tone of Episode VIII, saying “it’s similar to how The Empire Strikes Back has a different tone.”

When it comes to Davis and his connection with Star Wars, the actor boasts an impressive tenure. He got his start in Hollywood when he played an Ewok named Wicket in Return of the Jedi. Davis returned in The Phantom Menace to play Weasel and Wald. The actor also starred as a lead in a 1988 film titled Willow which was scripted by George Lucas.

Last year, Davis starred in The Force Awakens as an alien called Wollivan in Maz Kanata’s cantina. Fans expect the actor to play a similarly small role in Episode VIII when it debuts. Director Rian Johnson has already started editing the upcoming film, so here’s to hoping the fan-favorite actor doesn’t get left on the cutting room floor.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is slated to warp into theaters on December 15th 2017.
