This Saturday, Cynthiana, Kentucky will celebrate The Walking Dead Day in honor of the series creator Robert Kirkman and original artist Tony Moore who both hail from the Kentucky town. It is also the location of the earliest pages from The Walking Dead comics.

Just a few weeks ago, a Walking Dead mural was completed in Cynthiana, featuring Rick, Daryl, Michonne and Carl. The town will be taken over by zombies this Saturday and fans will certainly be flocking to the gigantic mural to get a look.

According to Moore’s post, a sign on the edge of town will be dedicated to himself and Kirkman. A zombie apocalypse street festival will take place, along with signing and photo ops with the duo. Fans will also be able to get their hands on a special reprint of The Walking Dead #1 featuring Cynthiana on its cover.

There is also a Facebook page for the event, with more details: The Walking Dead Day in Cynthiana, Kentucky.

The Walking Dead was first printed in 2003. It has since seen 156 issues hit shelves with #157 on the way this week. It also spawned one of the most popular television series in history, pulling in over 15 million viewers on a weekly basis. Moore illustrated the first six issues of the series before Charlie Adlard stepped in for the next 150.

The Walking Dead will return for its seventh season October 23 at 9 PM ET on AMC. For complete coverage, insider info, and more all season long, be sure to follow me on Twitter @BrandonDavisBD and check out The Walking Dead on ComicBook.com on Facebook.
