Among all of the emotional moments, threats, and chaos taking place in Sunday’s season two premiere of Fear the Walking Dead was an interesting moment between to characters.
As Ophelia headed up the stairs on the Abigail and Nick headed down, Nick offered up a genuine moment of friendship and possibly flirtation. Ophelia welcomed it, too. Does this mean a relationship might be forming between Fear‘s resident junkie and daddy’s girl?
“They could be I suppose,” Nick actor Frank Dillane tells ComicBook.com in an exclusive interview. “There certainly hasn’t been that in that episode. But she’s all right, I mean, I would.”
Mercedes Mason, who plays Ophelia, also weighed in on the moment. “They’re both young and close in age,” the actress starts. “I think the beauty of the two characters. I genuinely don’t know where it’s going with them, But, the beauty of the two characters is they’re very innocent in their own ways. Ophelia was sheltered by parents, so she really doesn’t understand the world. It’s almost like she’s just starting to open her eyes. And Nick was in a drug haze, so he’s almost stunted in growth emotionally. They both have this innocence to them which I think is so beautiful that they can find that, and they can just start reaching out to some semblance of comfort in each other, I think.”
It sure does sound like Mason has done some serious thinking about this potential love interest! What do you think shippers? Are Nick and Ophelia going to become a thing on Fear the Walking Dead?
Fear the Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 PM ET on AMC.
