After a nasty accident on set, The Walking Dead is hitting the pause button on Season 8.
On Wednesday, a stuntman on the popular AMC series was seriously injured in an on-set fall. John Bernecker fell more than 20 feet onto a concrete floor while working in Georgia, and he was immediately rushed to Atlanta Medical Center. After being treated for a serious brain injury, Bernecker was put in the intensive care unit.
Deadline reports that AMC released the following statement regarding Bernecker and the filming halt facing the show:
“We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for The Walking Dead and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set,” AMC said in a statement today. “He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital, and we have temporarily shut down production. We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”
There is no word yet on when filming will resume.
