Season 7 of The Walking Dead was loaded with betrayal and treachery. Characters switched sides. Shocking decisions were made. People died.
However, one character showed her true colors by pulling a gun on Rick Grimes in a moment which would have otherwise seen him rally against Negan and the Saviors once and for all. Instead, he was pitted into a corner and his group merely managed to chase the enemies out of town with the help of King Ezekiel's Kingdom soldiers and Maggie's Hilltop army.
The character who is Jadis, played by PollyAnna McIntosh, who joined the series in its seventh season, before being promoted to series regular for Season 8. The moment which saw her character betray Rick Grimes by putting a gun to his head in favor of Negan and the Saviors, the character became one of the most infuriating villains on the AMC series. For McIntosh, the frustration was similar while watching the episode.
"I think whatever happens, it's not gonna be boring," McIntosh said. "I'm in the showrunner's hands. I'm like, 'Write away! Do your stuff!' It's always brilliant. As an audience member, weirdly, when she did that in the season finale, I was mad at her, too!"
Still, McIntosh is not eager to see Jadis find redemption in Rick or the fans' eyes. "I don't know, why not love a bad girl?" she said.
Luckily for McIntosh, the backlash from fans hasn't been quite as severe as the which Josh McDermitt earned following Eugene's alignment with Negan. "I was warned that I'd get all sorts of death threats and stuff because I know a lot of actors have had rough treatment for what their characters have done -- which is weird you guys!" McIntosh said. "Luckily for me, I think the difference with Jadis is she wasn't loyal to the group for that long so it was harder for people to get really mad. Plus, I was also real lucky that nobody died."
