The character of Negan has been dangled in front of The Walking Dead fans like an unreachable carrot all season, just out of range.

Now that the character has made his full introduction, the big question is who did he kill, which has drawn the ire of many a fan after the cliffhanger ending of the season 6 finale. Producer Scott Gimple has gone on the record stating they weren't intentionally trying to mess with people with that ending.

"We never intend to f— with people," Gimple said when the moderator, director Paul Feig, asked him how beholden he feels to the comics. "You all just saw the episode and I want to go on record and say we were not trying to f— with you."

I love your work Gimple, but I have to call B.S., though not necessarily in a bad way. The whole point of a cliffhanger ending is to keep the audience invested until the next episode, so by nature, it's going to screw with you. That said, the finale did its job, and come season 7 I'm pretty positive all the people complaining will be watching right alongside everybody else.
