Because he stuck behind to watch after Rick's baby, Judith, and the rest of the residents inside the walls of Alexandria, Seth Gilliam's Father Gabriel didn't have the pleasure of meeting Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), but we're sure that time will come next season.

"I can say from the little bit that I do know about the upcoming season, there will be lots and lots of tears shed," Gilliam told toofab at Chiller Expo. "I think there will be a good deal of shock, a lot of heartbreak and what I can say is that Negan is far from done."

As for the finale's cliffhanger, he admitted that he was "a little shocked" by fan outrage, but he can also sympathize with the viewers. "I'm not such a big fan of cliffhangers myself," he said, "but in this particular case, I think it's great storytelling."

Season 7 of The Walking Dead will debut next October.
