Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones' relationship this season on Riverdale has definitely gotten more physical with the fan favorite "Bughead" pair kissing a lot more frequently and Cole Sprouse jokes there's a reason for that.

US Weekly reports that on a recent appearance on Live With Kelly and Ryan, Sprouse joked that the increase in kissing scenes was in his contract.

"A little bit more of that, which is going to be good," Sprouse said. "They're contractually obliged to give me as many kiss scenes as possible this season. I wrote it into my contract."

While Sprouse's Jughead and Betty actress Lili Reinhart have definitely been spotted kissing quite a bit this season on Riverdale, it's what Sprouse didn't specify in his tease about contract that's interesting. While Betty and Jughead have been turning up the PDA this season, their relationship has also started to see some strains. Jughead is now officially attending Southside High and spending more time with Toni Topaz as they work on the school newspaper, the Red and Black.

However, while much has been teased about the end of the "Bughead" relationship this season and the lack of specification about who is getting kissed this season seem to point to a breakup, not everyone is willing to accept that suggested fate. Reinhart recently told Teen Vogue that while things do seem to be conspiring against the couple, love can still conquer all.

"There's definitely, it seems to be like, countless forces that want to pry them apart," Reinhart said. "Their relationship is being put to the test, totally. I've been able to see the challenges that have been thrown their way. And, it's definitely hard. They're young, they're in love, and they're trying to make it work."

And, as Sprouse joked, that means more required kissing.

Riverdale airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
