What If 2017 Vince McMahon Booked The Attitude Era?

The WrestleMania 33 poster is indicative of WWE's strategy as a whole with its talent. That strategy has been criticized for often placing an overwhelming share of importance on returning part time stars as opposed to the young talent who works the crowds night in and night out. This is especially evident when it comes to WrestleMania, and 33 is no different.

The biggest show of the year has multiple matches that include returning part time stars, including Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, and The Undertaker. For people who only do a handful of shows at a time, they are front and center on the WreslteMania 33 poster, taking the place of other stars and even Champions like Bray Wyatt, who is actually the WWE Champion and not just a Universal title holder like Goldberg. The same goes for Bayley and Alexa Bliss, who currently hold the Women's Championships for RAW and Smackdown respectively.

Yahoo Movies writer Brian Maxwell Mann shared a reworked WrestleMania 33 poster with the caption "if 2017 Vince booked the attitude era". In Goldberg's place is Bob Backlund, with Sgt. Slaughter in the spot of Undertaker and Brock Lesnar's spot now occupied by Bruno Sanmartino. Other highlights include Test in Roman Reigns' former spot, with Sable in Bayley's and Jim Duggan in John Cenas. The best part? Defining icons of the Attitude era like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, The Rock, The Hardys, and ironically the Undertaker are all pushed to the back, while Christian and Edge are now seen in The New Day's hosting spot.

Sure there are differences that need to be accounted for, but overall you can see the point he's making. If Vince relegated the young stars of the era to the background every time he needed to sell a pay-per-view, those stars would not have developed as quickly or not even developed at all.
