Captain America: Civil War is not in low supply of characters, but talk was that Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 would blow it out of the water.

Early comments by the Russo brothers stated that Infinity War would feature 67 Marvel characters. That number is pretty high, and some feared that the duo would be biting off more than they could chew as far as the character count. Writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely clarified those comments to the Huffington Post.

"Well, I mean that number is literally — that number comes from the fact that that's everyone who's already been introduced. If you line up all the character's who are available to use from the prior Marvel movies, it racks up to about 60 something characters, let alone the new ones you could bring in," said Markus.

"Right," added McFeely. "We had our office filled with cards of everybody who was alive and available, and the brothers came in and went, 'Whoa.' So that doesn't mean that everyone is, you know, there's not going to be 67 lead parts."

So yes, there could be 67 characters in the films, but that doesn't mean there will be. Likewise, even if certain characters are technically in the film, that doesn't mean they have a large role.

Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 releases on May 4th, 2018.
