New York Comic Con is changing up their ticket buying process this year, all in hopes of stemming the tide of the scalping scourge.

In a blog post released today from their official site, NYCC announced their new Fan Verification process. Basically, before you can buy a ticket you and anyone else who is going to NYCC with you will need to fill out a Fan Verification profile between May 20th and June 13th. There can only be one profile per email, and only people with an approved profile will be allowed to purchase tickets, which are still doled out on a first come first serve basis.

NYCC hopes this will keep a substantial amount of tickets out of the hands of scalpers who like to over-inflate the prices, and any users who they find are trying to manipulate the process will be disallowed from purchasing a ticket.

In addition to the added ticketing measure, they've also done away with VIP tickets for the show completely, so now everyone will have the same status when purchasing a ticket. You can read the FAQ and more about the reasoning behind the process here.
