Ron Permal may, eventually, be cast as Swamp Thing in an upcoming Justice League Dark film, but according to the actor it has not happened yet.

Best known for his role as Clay Morrow in Sons of Anarchy as well as the namesake character Hellboy in the original 2004 movie and its 2008 sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, the 66-year-old told ComicBook.com that there was nothing to the longstanding rumor.

"It is just urban myth, Internet noise," Permal said in a text.

Late in 2015, rumors of his casting took the Internet by storm, but since then very little news has surfaced surrounding the film. The most recent development came yesterday when Doug Liman was announced to be directing the undated DC project.

Perlman is actively pursuing a role in the comic book movie universes as he took to Twitter to grab the attention of Marvel Studios, expressing interest in a role in one of their many upcoming films.

A veteran to comic-based projects -- he did voice-over work as Clayface in Batman: The Animated Series; Killer Croc in The Batman; Slade in the animated series Teen Titans, and The Lich in Adventure Time -- so it probably won't be long before he gets the call to join a DC or Marvel project.

The last time Perlman spoke with ComicBook.com he pointed out that time was not on his side for completing another project, while rallying support from fans to get the third installment Hellboy.

"I would prefer to not do Hellboy III from a wheelchair," he said.

For now, Justice League Dark's crew is very slowly coming together with no cast officially in place just yet.

Liman's directing is backed by Guillermo del Toro and Scott Rudin as producers. No release date has been announced.
