Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn may have had to turn over the film's characters to Anthony and Joe Russo for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, but it sounds like he's pleased with the result.

In an interview with IGN, Gunn revealed that he has seen the footage from Infinity War and he's "excited" about how the Guardians have fit into the film.

"Of course, I've seen it and, listen, I've been dealing with the Russos for a while and everybody for a while. How the Guardians are implemented into Infinity Wars, how they are supporting characters in the two Avengers movies, and how that's going to work out," Gunn said. "So, I've been here, I've taken very good care of them and they've been taking very good care of me so I feel really, really excited about it."

While he's pleased with how the Guardians appear in Infinity War, Gunn did have to recently clarify that Adam Warlock's cocoon from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had nothing to do with Avengers: Infinity War.

"It's just not going to happen," Gunn said. "Because I didn't want people to have false expectations of what they thought was going to happen with Adam."

Avengers: Infinity War is scheduled to release on May 4, 2018.
