Actor Josh Gad recently randomly tweeted a panel of DC Comics' The Penguin, completely out of the blue. Combine the tweet with the fact several of the folks over at DC Entertainment recently started following the actor on the ever-popular micro-blogging service, and we might have ourselves another live action version of The Penguin.

After the original tweet, concept art maestro BossLogic worked magic and came up with a "What If…" style picture of Gad playing the perennial Batman villain.

Guess what? The work didn't go unnoticed — Gad retweeted the work with the emoji of a hand making the "ok" sign.

Up Next: Here's What Josh Gad Could Look Like As The Penguin

Should Gad play Oswald Cobblepot, he'd be the fourth actor to portray the character in live-action. Originally played by Burgess Meredith in Adam West's campy Batman series of the 1960s, Danny DeVito took over the role for the much darker Batman Returns (1992).

Having been in just two movies so far, a much-younger version of Cobblepot can currently be seen on Fox's Gotham, as played by Robin Lord Taylor.

Regardless if Gad were to get the role or not, the next step would be to determine which movie the character would make his DC Extended Universe debut in. With Wonder Woman, Justice League, and Aquaman all out of reach, one would assume the character would appear in one of the many Bat-family films currently on the slate.

The Batman starring Ben Affleck, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Gotham City Sirens are all in various stages of development at Warner Brothers and although The Penguin is an archnemesis of Bruce Wayne's, it certainly wouldn't be unreasonable for the villain to appear in another Bat-family property.
