The Assassin's Creed games may have provided a challenge over the years, but they weren't really impossible, save for a few targets that managed to be more elusive than expected. Still, it took very little to get in the way of finally finishing them off.

Still, for those of you who think the games are a bit on the hard side, you've got some good news coming your way. Game director Ashraf Ismail recently confirmed that the forthcoming Assassin's Creed Origins will be introducing an option for the first time in the series that will let you tweak your difficulty settings. So if you want it to be a cakewalk, it'll be a cakewalk. And if you prefer something more difficult, you've got it.

Speaking to Assassin's Central, Ismail confirmed the inclusion of the settings, explaining, "Some people play for the historic context, some people for the narrative, some for the gameplay, and what we felt was by going deeper into the gameplay challenge of the game we're feeding one part of the audience, but not others so it was a natural step for us to think 'well, let's give difficulty settings.'If you really want that very difficult challenge you can set the game to a harder setting. We've seen situations where people have asked 'y'know I want the game to stay at a normal, balanced difficulty but I'm having difficulty with this boss or this moment so can I switch?' So yes we allow it to switch dynamically."

While having the game in easy mode won't stop enemies from coming at you, it'll make them a lot easier to conquer. But if you want something harder where they come at you from all directions, you can go for that too.

And for those seeking a more, ahem, lenient trip through Egypt, the company previously announced a Discovery mode that would allow for exploration into the history of its culture, without worrying about someone hacking away at you with a sword. You know, if you want to relax and learn a little.
