Ubisoft announced that a casual game mode is coming to Assassin's Creed: Origins that will allow players to take a break from the constant combat and instead explore ancient Egypt.

The pacifist Origins experience is currently being called "Discovery Tour," a mode that builds upon the Database system that past Assassin's Creed games have used to put collected info on display for players. Devoid of combat of any kind, players can use the game mode to explore the Egyptian setting and learn more about their surroundings.

Discovery Tour doesn't appear to simply be a mode that'll be toggled on or off either during normal gameplay. Instead, an announcement from Ubisoft confirmed that the game mode would be completely separate from the main game. Along with the combat, quests, time constraints, and other factors that currently exist in the base game mode are being removed for Discovery Tour to allow for a distraction-free experience.

Through a series of guided tours that the announcement says there are dozens of, players will be escorted through ancient Egypt to learn more about the setting. It looks like it won't be too unlike taking a trip to a museum with other NPCs performing their jobs and other tasks while players can walk up to them and see what they're up to. From the mummification process to learning more about the pyramids, players will likely have tons of areas to explore thanks to the game's culture-rich location.

For history buffs, the game will take place around the time that Cleopatra was alive. She was specifically mentioned in the announcement, so expect to see her alongside other prominent historical figures during your explorations in the Discovery Tour and perhaps the main game as well. Using the Discovery Tour mode might even help players in the main game as well when it comes to understanding their new surroundings, so it's definitely worth taking a look at when it's available.

The Discovery Tour game mode is expected to release for the game sometime during early 2018, and Assassin's Creed: Origins is scheduled to release for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on Oct. 27. Currently, Amazon Prime members can save 20% when they pre-order.
