Batman himself is quite iconic, but so is his vaunted car, the Batmobile.

Every Batman movie has to redesign the car in some way, and reaction to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice's version has been quite warm. Production designer Patrick Tatopoulos shared some details on how that reveal process affected him.

"It is such a long process, from the time you create the vehicle to the time you are actually looking at it on the internet, and you're dying for that because you want to know, especially for an item so iconic, you want to know how people are going to receive it. For Zack, I'm sure it was huge, and for me it was the same. Finally seeing it and seeing people starting to respond was an unbelievable moment. "

DC Entertainment also asked Tatopoulos about how long the process took, from inception to the version we see in the final film.

"Well, it took 5 months actually to build 2 cars. That's the actual build. Prior to the build, you have to design it, so you have to do the drafts and all those things. As soon as you have the chassis and wheels you have to start testing it. A funny little thing about the car is we couldn't find tires. We looked everywhere, and there was no way we could find this exact size. We flew those tires in from Israel, and they're meant for farming trucks. We shaved them and resculpted them and we adapted them to the car. The whole car can actually raise its back and will start to look like an offroad car. Trust me, there was a huge amount of engineering to get it to where it is now."

Kudo's on a job well done, as this version of Batman's iconic ride easily fits into the mythos, and is a perfect blend of sleekness and power. Not quite my favorite, but still heavily in the running.
