Snuka, born James Smith, was convicted last year of the 1983 murder of his girlfriend, Nancy Argentino. Now though, experts will need time to evaluate the state of Snuka’s mental well-being and if he is even competent enough to stand trial. A hearing on his mental state was scheduled for March 18th, but Judge Kelly L. Banach has rescheduled it for May 13. The delay will give mental health experts proper time to evaluate the former Hall of Famer’s state and give a proper report.
Back in January, Snuka’s attorney reported that Snuka had difficulty grasping reality and was unsure about what he was charged with and things like remembering what day it was.
Snuka, 72, currently resides in New Jersey and recovering from stomach cancer still denies the chargers.
