HBO officially added award-winning Harry Potter movie actor Jim Broadbent last week, and now rumor has it that they’re looking to add an even more recognizable name to the cast of Game of Thrones Season 7.
According to a rumor from German outlet Bild, Angela Landsbury will guest star in two episodes of Game of Thrones Season 7. Which Game of Thrones character Landsbury is supposedly playing remains unknown.
At this point, this casting news is just a rumor. However, the National Enquirer ran a similar story in which a supposed friend of Lansbury said, “Angela loves living in New York, but she said she would be willing to travel for a special TV or a film role. So Game of Thrones is a perfect fit for her!” The same article also reported that Diana Rigg, who play Olenna Tyrell on Game of Thrones, personally recommended Lansbury for the role, quoting a source as saying, “She told producers, ‘You’ve got to get Angela for this.’”
Like the Harry Potter film series before it, Game of Thrones is a series that has frequently attracted some of the very best actors from the United Kingdom. While Lansbury has spent most of her life and career in the United States, she was born in the United Kingdom and retains dual citizenship. Lansbury is also certainly a top acting talent, having won six Golden Globes and been nominated for three Academy Awards and 18 Primetime Emmy Awards.
Game of Thrones Season 7 is the penultimate season of Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones Season 7 will run for seven episodes, down from the 10 episodes Game of Thrones Season 1-6.
Game of Thrones Season 7 will air on HBO in 2017.
