Fans may still have a bit to go until Marvel Studios releases Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but James Gunn is keeping fans satiated with teasers until more substantial footage arrives. Just yesterday, the director gifted fans with another superhero nod when he uploaded a brand-new image from the anticipated sequel in honor of actor Stephen Blackehart’s birthday.

“Happy Birthday to my very best pal in all the land and my only friend who knows both the historical ins-and-outs of the Third Punic War and how an air-conditioner works,” Gunn wrote on Instagram. The director attached the touching caption to a photo of Blackehart dressed as a Ravager from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The actor, who plays Brahl, looks unrecognizable with his layered prosthetics. His nose, lips, and ears have been noticeably altered, and the crown of his head has been sharpened to a point.
This is not the first image of Blackehart’s character to hit the Internet. At San Diego Comic Con, Marvel Studios and Gunn released a silly photo of the sequel’s Ravager squad to thank them for appearing at the event.
“This was the framed gift Marvel Studios gave to each of the Ravagers as a gift for helping us out by appearing at San Diego Comic-Con,” Gunn told fans in a social media post. “Thanks, guys!”
