Rogue One: A Star Wars Story VR Set Tour Now Available

Not so long ago in a studio somewhat far away, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story took control of a rather large set. The spin-off film descended upon the Pinewood Studios in London for filming, and now fans can experience what it was like on set thanks to the magic of virtual reality.

The 3-minute video follows Gareth Edwards as he take viewers on a tour of the decked-out studio. The crew can be seen filming a tense action sequence where Rebels Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor are ambushed by a fleet of Stormtroopers. The two appear to be on the planet Jedha for a reconnaissance mission, but there plans are foiled when the Empire gets in their way.

You can see the people in costumes constantly acting," says the director. "They don't know when they're going to be in shot. That was part of the design of this set, so that at any point we could move the camera around and film 360° spontaneously."

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers.
