Star Wars fans can agree that Finn has had a rough time of it. Sucked into the First Order from birth, the character was pushed to become a Stormtrooper despite his clear hesitancy to pledge allegiance to the nefarious group. Even after Finn managed to escape and join up with the Resistance, the man found himself involved with Rey and her newfound quest to find Luke Skywalker. And, by the end of The Force Awakens, Finn found himself at the wrong end of Kylo Ren’s red lightsaber. Between the man’s stress and injuries, Finn will be in a difficult place when The Last Jedi debuts. According to John Boyega, much of the character’s arc will see him wrestle between the Resistance and the First Order.

Don’t worry though! As far as fans know, the character isn’t some sort of double-agent. No, Boyega says the turmoil comes from Finn and his desire to run from any situation which involves the galactic villains.

At Star Wars Celebration, The Star Wars Show was able to talk with Boyega about where fans will meet Finn in The Last Jedi. When asked where the character’s head was at, Boyega had this to say:

“I think Finn is at a point where he needs to find his place now. When he stabilizes and wakes up, it’s time to choose his side. Are you part of the Resistance or are you going to continue running from the First Order?”

“This film follows his journey to deciding – and when he does decide – it’s game on,” he continued.
