Star Wars Made Easy, which came out in the “Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi” line, has some information about the porgs and the Caretakers.

The porgs became an instant hit among Star Wars fans when they were first shown in the behind-the-scenes teaser at the D23 Expo. Though they might be a bit curious, obtrusive, and prevalent on the planet of Ahch-To, they might serve another purpose beyond being cute.

In the section called “Luke’s Island Highlights,” it says:

“Small, bird-like porgs are the island’s most adorable inhabitants. Cute? Definitely. Tasty? Maybeโ€ฆ”

Hmm. That’sโ€ฆ disturbing, to say the least. Especially considering it’s a children’s book. But, hey, it’s probably just a funny tease that some joker wanted to toss in there, unaware that websites would likely scrutinize every line of text in hopes of learning secrets about the new movie.

But waitโ€ฆ

The Great Porg Hunt

Someone on Reddit posted this image of from a Star Wars: The Last Jedi coloring book.

At first glance it looks pretty innocent, just a couple of Caretakers hanging out with some porgs on Ahch-To. And one of them has a weird fish/bag pipe-thing! Aw, how sweet, they’re playing music for the sweet little space birds.

And the other Caretaker has a- wait a second, is that a net? Are they HUNTING porgs?

Well, who knows! They might just like to capture them so they can keep them as pets. Or maybe some of them are hurt, and the peaceful, Force-sensitive Caretakers simply want to nurse the creatures back to health!โ€จโ€จ

The porgs are way tooย cute for people to actually eat them, right?

Porg Gorge

Dammit, Chewie! Did you just eat that porg? Then why is that feather hanging on the corner of your mouth?!

Well, that image from the behind-the-scenes video pretty much confirms it, and it’s been right in front of our facesย this entire time.

The porgs are food. And they probably taste delicious. Rian Johnson, you are a sinister man. โ€จโ€จThere’s only one conclusion that can be drawn from this revelation: Luke Skywalker isn’t in exile, he is addicted to porgs. They’re worse than deathsticks.

Porgs: not even once.

Star Wars: The Porg Massacre premieres in theaters on December 15.
