The original studio behind Attack on Titan has returned to the anime franchise for a special new event coming later this Fall. It’s been quite a while since Attack on Titan’s anime and manga runs came to an end, but you wouldn’t really think that was the case given how active the franchise has been recently either way. But while studios like MAPPA have taken the reins of the franchise since, there’s an even bigger surprise now that the original studio behind it all has returned for a new event.

WIT Studio has officially announced that they are spearheading a new Attack on Titan cafe coming to Japan this Fall, and the biggest aspect of this is the fact that the studio is returning to the franchise to provide new art for the situation as well. It means a classic take on the characters in a very long time given that it had been with MAPPA for its final few seasons, and could tease even more of WIT Studio projects for the franchise in the future.
Attack on Titan Announces New Event With Original Anime Studio
“Attack on Titan Cafe for That Time of Life -A Teenage Dinner-” has been officially announced as a new event for the franchise from WIT Studio coming to Japan later this September, and it’s going to feature new art exclusive for the event. This includes a makeover for each of the headliner characters, and this is a pretty big deal since we’ve seen them through MAPPA’s lens for the last few years of the anime’s run. And that’s the run that most fans think back on most fondly when looking at the anime’s history on a whole.
WIT Studio’s time with Attack on Titan ended following the end of the third season. MAPPA then took over the anime adaptation beginning with its fourth and final season. The series then continued for a few more years after as this final season was expanded into multiple feature film releases and much more over the course of its grand finale. But with WIT Studio returning to the franchise in this way, there’s all sorts of potential for the anime to return with something else in the future.
Will Attack on Titan’s Anime Ever Return?

Attack on Titan is pretty much done as done could be. All of the manga has since been adapted and Hajime Isayama has publicly moved on from the franchise in the years since that finale. The manga had a very divisive ending, but the anime’s adaptation of that finale was received better by fans. It’s such a big and popular franchise even after that grand finale that MAPPA had been finding ways to keep working with the anime adaptation with other sorts of spinoff and side projects.
In a world where anime projects make their return for new reboots, revivals, sequels and more years after their original endings, there could be all sorts of ways for Attack on Titan to come back with new anime releases in the future. It could pick up with a new story years after, fill in more of the gaps in the past, or even more potential ideas if a studio staff wants to take it on. For now, catch up with Attack on Titan with platforms like Crunchyroll and more.
