Last weekend, Dragon Ball Super unveiled one of its more memorable episodes thanks to Universe 6. The release followed Goku as the hero teamed up with Caulifla and Kale as they took on Universe 11, but it was the latter who wound up stealing the spotlight. After all, Kale debuting yet another Super Saiyan form is something fans would coo over.

During the episode, fans watched as Kale failed to go Super Saiyan after her recent berserker outbreak. Caulifla stepped in to protect her protege, but Universe 11 did not relent in their attacks. In fact, the Pride Troopers wound up trapping Kale in a dimensional prison to separate her from Caulifla, and the younger Saiyan could only watch as her mentor got pummeled.

In the face of her friend’s pain, Kale was finally able to pull off one of Dragon Ball Super‘s better transformations to date. The female Saiyan channeled the rage and self-hatred she felt over her own weakness to help her go Super Saiyan, but she did so unlike ever before.

Rather than going berserk, Kale entered a Super Saiyan mode that was totally controlled. The heroine was less buff in the new form, and Kale had total awareness unlike when she transformed into a so-called Female Broly. With her powers at an all-time high, Kale broke out of the Pride Trooper’s prison and assisted Caulifla in outing three warriors with a tag-team ki beam.

For fans, seeing Kale assume a controlled Super Saiyan form was thrilling to watch. After all, the heroine had only shown off her berserker Super Saiyan status prior to last week’s episode. Both Kale and Caulifla have made major strides in upping their power levels since their debut, and even Goku expects the duo to become a problem for him later on in the Tournament of Power. So, for now, Kale better exercise her Super Saiyan mojo to get ready for her next battle against Universe 7’s strongest warrior.

The synopsis of Dragon Ball Super‘s current saga can be read here: “According to an invitation that Goku gets, Zen-Oh (Omni King) is starting a martial arts tournament between all the universes called “Chikara no Taikai” (Tournament of Power). But it is the beginning of universal destruction. Something awaits the winners and losers of this tournament. What will become of this fierce team battle between each universe’s elite warriors?

Dragon Ball Super‘s “Universal Survival” saga is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami airs the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
