Hunter x Hunter Fans Once Again Celebrate a Major Anniversary

Hunter x Hunter’s creator, Yoshihiro Togashi, has long been anime royalty, evne before he introduced the world to the likes of Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio. Prior to entering this world of hunters, the manga artist brought the story of Yusuke Urameshi to life in Yu Yu Hakusho. While this shonen series ended decades ago, the hunters’ tale continues tot his day. With Hunter x Hunter continuing to release new chapters to further flesh out the Succession Contest Arc, shonen enthusiasts are once again celebrating a major story event that only happens on September 1st.

Following the quartet achieving their initial goals of achieving hunter status via the gruelish exams, Kurapika, Leorio, Killua, and Gon have some individual tasks to complete. Thanks to this fact, they need to seperate from one another, but make a promise to reunite in York New City on September 1st, which has become a major date for Hunter x Hunter fans. Fans of the series each year will celebrate this milestone by celebrating Gon’s story, via fan art, discussions, and everything else you can think of. One fan has even traveled to New York City’s Times Square to truly hammer home the arc that had major implictions on the shonen franchise, as you can see by clicking here.

Hunter x Hunter’s Succession Contest Continues

It can sometimes be tough being a fan of Hunter x Hunter, especially when you consider the long delays that the manga has suffered in recent years. Yoshihiro has made it no secret that his health issues have caused him to often delay the release of new chapters, with a previous hiatus taking years to see the world of hunters make a comeback. Luckily, the manga artist has been hard at work to make sure that the story continues in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump, frequently sharing big updates on his upcoming chapters’ progression.

Shockingly enough, while this reunion is one that fans will celebrate, it’s been an almost unbelievable amount of time since the manga’s “fantastic four” have been in the same room. In fact, the last instance that saw Gon, Killua, Leorio, and Kurapika all in the same room was in the 119th chapter, which was released over twenty-five years ago. Ever since, the quartet have been working on their own individual issues and there has been no hints that they’ll reunite anytime soon. In major arcs such as Greed Island Arc, The Chimera Ant Arc, and the Succession Contest Arc, varying protagonists have taken the lead. With Togashi working on quite a few chapters as we speak, Hunter x Hunter fans have been crossing their fingers that we’ll one day see the heroes all reunite to once again explore their world.
