If you have been letdown by live-action anime, then you are not the only one. Over the years, various studios around the world have tried to bring anime titles to life with varying success. Projects such as the live-action Rurouni Kenshin films received unanimous praise, but most adaptations have flopped. Recently, Hollywood added another bust to the list with Ghost in the Shell, and the feature joins others like Black Butler and even Dragonball Evolution.

However, there is one comedian out there trying to normalize anime in the live-action world. Saturday Night Live in South Korea isn’t afraid to take risks when it comes to anime, and actor Kwon Hyuk-soo is on a one-man mission to revive some classic anime titles.
Over the past few months, Kwon has been doing skits which bring anime titles like Card Captor Sakura and Inuyasha to life for laughs.
You can check out the rowdy, gag-filled skits below.

Card Captor Sakura
Can you tell the difference between Kwon and Sakura? It’s hard to tell. The comedian does his best to comedically cosplay as the magical girl during this recreation of the anime’s opening. Fans are shown the man dressed in Sakura’s various outfits from school uniforms to her battle attire. And, yes – he is seen singing into the heroine’s sealing wand.ย
Inuyasha
It’s no secret that Inuyasha is a bit dramatic, but this skit from SNL Korea takes the hybrid demon’s antics to a new level. Fans can watch as some actors don shoddy cosplaysย to bring Inuyashaย and his elder brother Sesshลmaruย to life. Oh, and there is a cross-dressing Kagome. That is also a thing.ย
Sailor Moon
If you ever wanted to know what the Sailor Scouts would look if they were comprised of K-Pop stars, then here is your answer. In this skit, the regular SNL host brings his cross-dressing charm to Usagiย when he dons Sailor Moon’s blond wig. The rest of his celestial crew is brought to life by impossibly pretty actresses and idols. So, of course, it makes sense that there is a dance number at the skit’s end.ย
Wedding Peach
If you haven’t heard of Wedding Peach in awhile, then let this skit from SNLย take you back to a better place. The infamous shojoย series may be more preoccupied with teenage romance, Love Angels, and saving the world from lustful demons. But, in South Korea, the series has been given a live-action take which highlights its (apparently campy) transformation sequences.ย
Full Moon o Sagashite
Full Moon oย Sagashite is a diverse shojo series which balances its cutesy romance with a heavy-handed dose of death. The series may follow a terminally ill girl as she makes a deal with the God of Death to become a singer before her death. However, this skit from SNLย manages to make everything a bit more cheery than Full Moon oย Sagashiteย really is. Seriously, just look at those dance moves!
