Rene Russo will return to reprise her role as Frigga, mother or at least mother figure to both Thor and Loki, in the forthcoming sequel Thor: The Dark World. And apparently, fresh off two painful and humiliating failures along with jarring revelations about his parentage, Loki will be looking to Frigga for guidance more than ever, a story development that apparently has made Russo feel like she wants to study her source material a little more closely.”I think they’re going to need a good mom in the next film,” the The Thomas Crown Affair actress told Vulture. “Loki needs his mom. What the hell? I have a lot of compassion for him. But we might have to have a conversation about what he just did, Russo laughed. And I might have to have a chat with Thor. But I am so confused – is Thor my son or not? People have been telling me recently, ‘No, you’re not his mother.’ It’s all so confusing! I got to tell ya, it would be a little embarrassing if I don’t know. I need to read more about her.”The actress acknowledged that her role had been cut way down in Thor, and told the interviewer that director Kenneth Branagh sent her a letter giving her a heads-up, and that as an actor he understood that was not an ideal situation for Russo. On the other hand, she told the interviewer, “I prefer fewer words in my comics! I grew up on Archie.”
