Listen: The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield may not be as handsome as Brad Pitt, Norman Reedus, or Elmo, but I’ve seen enough women (and men) swoon over him to confidently say he is a very attractive man. However, early in his career, he lost out on a coveted role in 2008’s The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian because he fell short in the looks department.

“I really wanted to play…,” Garfield begins to chuckle before continuing, “This is so silly. There was a Narnia movie. The Prince Caspian film…”
“Really?” ET asked.
“Ben Barnes ultimately got it,” Garfield adds. “Ben Barnes, I’ll get ya! No, I really just wanted that partโฆ I think the feedback was ‘he’s not handsome enough.’ What can you do? Hey, I’m not handsome enough for Prince Caspian.”
If you haven’t seen the film he’s referring to and don’t recognize who Barnes is, he’s the 35-year-old English actor that portrayed Logan โ William’s arrogant and thrill-seeking brother-in-law-to-be โ in HBO’s Westworld television series. You’ll next see Barnes in Netflix’s The Punisher, where he will portray the brutal assassin Billy Russo (a.k.a. Jigsaw).
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008) – One year after the incredible events of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” the Kings and Queens of Narnia find themselves back in that faraway wondrous realm, only to discover that more than 1300 years have passed in Narnian time. The four children will soon meet an intriguing new character: Narnia’s rightful heir to the throne, the young Prince Caspian, who has been forced into hiding as his uncle Miraz plots to kill him in order to place his own newborn son on the throne. With the help of the kindly dwarf, a courageous talking mouse named Reepicheep, a badger named Trufflehunter and a Black Dwarf, Nikabrik, the Narnians, led by the mighty knights Peter and Caspian, embark on a remarkable journey to find Aslan, rescue Narnia from Miraz’s tyrannical hold, and restore magic and glory to the land.
