Rumors about the sequel to Pacific Rim have swirled in every direction for the past couple of years. Most recently, the word has been that plans for Pacific Rim 2 would either cancelled or put on hold.

However, according the mind behind the film, Pacific Rim 2 is “still going.”
Guillermo del Toro, director of Pacific Rim and several other geek culture phenomena, took to Twitter Monday to debunk any rumors of the sequel’s cancellation.
Pac Rim 2 cancelled? Don’t believe everything you read. It’s still going and I’ll remain w it in one way or another!
— Guillermo del Toro (@RealGDT) January 11, 2016Pacific Rim was wonderfully received by fans and many critics, however, it didn’t exactly break records at the box office despite having a hefty budget. No release date has been talked about for the sequel but at least know it’s still alive.
