This past weekend, director Zack Snyder dropped by San Diego Comic-Con and unveiled the first trailer for Justice League. It’s fun. It’s humorous. Judging it on what little footage we saw, it’s a clear departure from the more serious tone of Snyder’s two previous superhero films: Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It appeared to address the complaints critics had with the latter’s lack of humor.

Hopefully, Justice League isn’t filled to the gills with jokes like so many Marvel films are, as I actually appreciate Snyder’s no nonsense approach to the genre.

Apparently, YouTuber Tamoltion is also fond of Snyder’s serious approach and has cut together a new version of the Justice League trailer that’s more dramatic. Its tone resembles the first Man of Steel trailer and includes Jor-El’s (Russell Crowe) inspirational voice-over and Lisa Gerrard and Patrick Cassidy’s powerful song “Elegy.”

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroesโ€”Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flashโ€”it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

The film is being directed by Zack Snyder, based on a screenplay by Chris Terrio. The cast features Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, J. K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, and Amber Heard as Mera.

Justice League will open in theaters on November 17, 2017.
