Spider-Man played a central role in Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s original Civil War series, beginning the story by unmasking and becoming the poster boy for Iron Man’s Superhero Registration Act, but later switching sides to join Captain America’s Secret Avengers. It is still unclear what role he’ll play in this year’s sequel. You can see the full teaser in the gallery below.
Civil War II is written by Brian Michael Bendis and drawn by David Marquez. The story sees the Marvel heroes split over an Inhuman who can see crimes before they happen, with Captain Marvel leading the charge to alter the future by acting preemptively against the perpetrators, and Iron Man insisting that you shouldn’t punish someone for a crime before the crime has been committed.
Civil War II #1 ships in June. The story will have a Free Comic Book Day prologue in FCBD Civil War II #1, written by Bendis with art by Olivier Coipel, available on Free Comic Book Day, May 7.
