Exclusive First Look: McFarlane Toys’s Commando Spawn Figure

McFarlane Toys has provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive first look at the Commando Spawn action figure due out from the company later this year.

The sleek design isn’t quite as bogged down by armaments and bandoliers as previous takes on the figure, and his belts and accessories are not as massive as they have been in some of the comics, making for a take on the variant that feels more organically Spawn-like.

Per the Spawnworld listings, there have been three distinct, previous Commando Spawn releases, with the first version reissued more than a dozen times with different paint jobs, packaging, or perks. That makes the concept one of the most popular and versatile even in the crowded marketplace of Spawn-related merch, a market that creator Todd McFarlane has been building into an empire since the ’90s.

The figure also comes painted in a rare “bronze variant” to celebrate 25 years since the start of Image Comics and the launch of Spawn.
