Director Zack Snyder is still hard at work on Justice League. After a successful shoot in the UK (which Snyder recently commemorated in a juicy wrap video), production has now set up shop in Iceland.
As you can see below, the Icelandic setting has a particular topography that favors one Justice League member in particular: Aquaman.
Snyder is pictured here with Aquaman actor Jason Mamoa, but reports from DV (via Batman-News) report that Mamoa's Aquaman movie co-stars Amber Heard (Mera) and Willem Dafoe (Vulko) are also on site for the shoot - as is Wonder Woman actress, Gal Gadot. Ben Affleck has also revealed that his Batman/Bruce Wayne character will also be included in scenes filmed in Iceland.
So the question is: what part of the film are we seeing take shape?
The most obvious guess is that the Iceland shoot will have something to do with Batman and Wonder Woman trying to make contact with Aquaman to convince him to join their cause. From the very first Justice League teaser, we already know that Aquaman is the biggest holdout when it comes to joining the League; when Bruce Wayne approaches Arthur Curry, the resulting interaction is less-than-friendly, and later on, Wonder Woman confronts Batman about failing to persuade Aquaman. At the end of the teaser, when we see League members Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Cyborg descending into some underground tunnels, Aquaman is conspicuously missing from the party.
The Justice League teaser also revealed a story premise that involves three "Mother Boxes" (advanced alien living computers) that were left on Earth in the care of humans, Amazons and Atlanteans, respectively. Therefore, it's easy to presume that part of Justice League's plot could involve gathering those Mother Boxes - which conceivably constitute either a trip to Atlantis, or a meeting with emmisarys of the fabled underwater city - like Aquaman, his queen, Mera, and closest advisor, Vulko.
Either it plays out, seeing Jason Mamoa emerge from a the water in a setting like this is going to be something great to look out. Bravo for the location scouts.
