In a recent slew of big Batman movie news, we learned that Nightwing will soon be an official character in the DC Extended Universe, and that he’s getting his own solo film, which will be directed by The LEGO Batman Movie‘s Chris McKay. Like so many other fans, the first thing our minds went to was the question of ‘who could play Nightwing in the DCEU?‘ And rather than just pitch our own theories, we invited YOU, the readers, to share your input – and share you did!

Gordon-Levitt of course played a Nightwing-esque character in Dark Knight Rises, as Detective Robin John Blake. As always, the casting is more fan desire than actual possibility – especially since Gordon-Levitt has always been one of the most vocal proponents of the idea that Nolan’s trilogy is a completed story.
What may be more telling in this poll are the runner up choices: Kingsman star Taron Egerton came in at No. 2, while The Walking Dead star Steven Yeun came in at No. 3. Both are names that fans often nominate for the role; however, there are a lot of fans who would also love to see Egerton play the edgier character of Jason Todd / Red Hood – while Yeun has been a surprisingly consistent nominee for Dick Grayson / Nightwing.
