Considering it was loosely based on elements of The Dark Knight Returns, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice had no problems borrowing things from the book while ignoring other things completely. To prepare for his epic showdown against the Man of Steel, Batman took many necessary precautions and designed a cache of devices to give him the upper hand, including armor that looked like it was straight out of Frank Miller’s book. An addition to his arsenal, however, was a spear with a kryptonite tip, which a group of fans have lovingly replicated with the help of a 3D printer.

Chaos Core Tech crafted the impressive piece to celebrate reaching 10,000 subscribers on their YouTube channel, using dimensions from stills for the film. The massive spear was constructed in sections and a steel rod was added to give it more heft and rigidity. The creators also used spray paints and acrylics to give the spear the appropriate amount of details.

One of the more impressive components of the spear comes from the addition of LED lights to the tip, recreating the glow seen in the film.

Batman didn’t end up using the deadly weapon on Superman, as the destructive conflict ended up uniting the two characters and they set aside their differences to instead turn their attention on the diabolical Doomsday.

The weapon did eventually come into play, as it proved to be as effective at vanquishing Doomsday as injuring Superman, who sacrificed himself to ensure the destruction of the mighty foe.

Filming is currently underway on the DC Extended Universe follow-up, Justice League, which director Zack Snyder recently announced he was departing. Snyder clearly remains involved in the project, but with his family having suffered a tragedy, he wanted to focus his attention on family needs over a movie.

Snyder remains so involved in the project, he even confirmed a fan’s interpretation of a pivotal scene from Batman v. Superman on Instagram.

The fan detailed his thoughts on the scene by posting, “Clark just trying to do the right thing but everyone just refers to him as some ‘higher power’ as they say and the day of the dead partakers put their hands on him, almost as if he’s a god they could finally meet. Plus the symbolism of Clark being dragged down by the people who died during him and Zod’s fight, symbolized by people dressed in skeletons, honoring the dead (maybe that’s just my overthinking), still, superduper scene.”

Snyder himself responded with a simple, “No no that’s right,” reminding everyone that devoted fans are what makes all these movies worth it.
