While to some this is just an ordinary Saturday, fans of the Dark Knight know that September 17th is a chance to celebrate on of the most enduring icons that DC Comics has ever created, the Batman.

In fact, it’s been quite a busy day in regards to Mr. Wayne, at least here at ComicBook.com. There’s plenty of avenues to go when celebrating the greatness of the caped crusader, and for your reading entertainment here are just a few of them.

To truly appreciate Batman, you need to know why he’s endured all these years, and why fans continue to flock to anything related to the character. ComicBook.com’s Kofi Outlaw examines why he continues to resonate with fans, and it stems from our own wish to overcome fear.

“We all want to believe that we are strong enough to overcome the darkest or most challenging things life will inevitably throw at us” says Outlaw, “and Batman is an embodiment of the idea that we can. Who isn’t attracted to that?”

After you’ve taken that in, it’s time to jump to the DC Cinematic Universe, where the studio has been quite busy today in sharing new photos from the set. Director Zack Snyder shared a first look at the Bat-Signal for Batman Day, but that wasn’t quite enough. Shortly afterward Snyder shared another shot of the Bat-Signal, but this time, it included a first look at J.K. Simmons’ Commissioner Gordon.

Since we’re already talking about the Cinematic Universe, so far there hasn’t been any shortage of fan service in the films thus far. Still, we have our own wishlist for future projects, including 5 Batman costumes we’d love to see on the big screen, and they aren’t the ones you might think.

We can’t in good conscience talk about what’s to come if we don’t cover what has already occurred, so we’ve also gone ahead and ranked every live action Batman, and we’ve analyzed each of Batman’s film costumes because we’re givers that way. If you prefer the villains, we’ve also listed the 7 Best Classic Batman Villains for your perusal.

Last but not least, if live action isn’t your cup of tea, then maybe LEGO Batman is, so feel free to check out the latest poster from the much anticipated animated film.

There’s plenty of Batman Celebration left, so make sure to stick around for more great Batman news.

Happy Batman Day!
