It seems as though everyone wants to be Batman, or at least wants to buy a piece of his legacy.

We recently reported that the infamous Batpod motorcycle from Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy was up for auction and sold for a mere $406,000.

Now, the original batsuit worn by actor Christian Bale in The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises just sold for a small fortune to one very lucky fan. A private collector only paid $250,000 for the ultimate Halloween costume.

The costume was up for sale as part of an auction by The Prop Store, a U.K. memorabilia company. The offering of more than 500 costumes, props and other pieces of movie history brought in more than £1.5 million.

Investors from New York City to Hong Kong called in to take part in the massive auction which also included pieces from Star Wars, Jaws, The Goonies, and more.

Stephen Lane, chief executive officer of The Prop Store said:

"We managed to get some world-record prices there, which is very exciting for us. The activity across the board was pretty unprecedented."

Lane also said that a person wearing batsuit won't end up showing up at your door for trick or treat:

"These don't get worn by anybody. They really end up in glass display cases."

Well, that's a shame. If that batsuit somehow ended up at ComicBook, we'd almost certainly never take it off, after fighting over who gets to be Batman first.
