While most of Wonder Woman is a period piece, kicking around 1918 in the era of World War I, that doesn't mean we won't see how Diana is affected when it comes to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. A framing sequence at the very beginning and end of the movie will help it bridge the gap from the world at war to the heroes preparing to unite.
"There's a strong catalyst at the end of this film, which represents where she's been or not been when we pick her up in Batman v Superman," producer Curt Kanimodo told ComicBook.com and other press on a set visit last year.
"Most of Wonder Woman takes place prior to Batman v Superman in terms of a timeline, but it's bookended and those bookend time periods are after BvS," executive producer Charles Roven confirmed. Well, here's what those bookends are:
Mild Spoilers! The film's story starts very briefly at Wayne Enterprises, where Bruce Wayne has tracked down the old glass plate photograph of Diana and her WWI compatriots, which she was looking for in BvS. Diana receives a crate from Bruce in her job as museum curator, with a letter form Bruce saying he "hopes she tells him her story someday." Seeing that picture is what sets her off on thinking about her past, her origin, and her first time in man's world.
As for the bookend at the finale of the film, well, they weren't telling and we wouldn't either, but rest assured that Wonder Woman's adventures in World War I will affect, and set up, her time in Justice League.
Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot as Diana, Princess of Themyscira, is in post-production now for a June 2, 2017 release.
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot, Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine, crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers...and her true destiny.
