Mild spoilers ahead for Suicide Squad. Don't read further or watch the above video unless you don't mind being spoiled from a fun surprise!

Toward the beginning of Suicide Squad we're introduced to the team, and a surprise guest shows up. When we find out how Captain Boomerang was apprehended, we see some lightning and a red blur, and then see him standing there in full costume. It's The Flash, Barry Allen, played by Ezra Miller, as was leaked on the production notes yesterday. We'll leave the details to the screen as to what he said and did next.

Funny thing is, it wasn't just a surprise for fans going to see the movie - it was a surprise to Jai Courtney, who was in the scene as Boomerang.

"I didn't know he was in the movie until I saw the movie! True!" Courtney told Comicbook.com during an interview in New York. "It's funny, because I look back on it and think, 'ya f***in' moron, of course that's what was happening!' But even shooting that [scene], it didn't occur to me. It wasn't so prescriptive in the script. That was a little gem they were keeping, and rightly so, I understand why they'd want to protect that."

So despite sharing screentime, Jai Courtney and Ezra Miller did not meet on the set of Suicide Squad. The history that scene hints at, though, gives Captain Boomerang an instant past that helps show how he can hang with a Crocodile-man, the Joker's girlfriend, a man with perfect aim, and a fire-generating maniac.

Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5, 2016.
