Justice League is just a few months away, but casting news continues to trickle out as its premiere date nears. So, it’s not exactly surprising to hear a new report claims to have learned who will be playing Cyborg‘s mother in the film.

If IMDb was correctly updated, then it appears Justice League brought in Karen Bryson to play Elinore Stone. The character is a familiar one to DC Comics readers as she is both Cyborg’s mother and a revered scientist at S.T.A.R. Labs.
Bryson hasn’t been formally attached to Justice League, but the actress does have a lengthy resume. Bryson is known for starring in TV series like Shameless and Bodies. The DC film is listed as the actress’ most recent project on IMDB.
Of course, fans should take the report with a grain of salt; IMDb is not an official avenue to break casting announcements, but some films do update its casting lists on the site for secondary characters.
If Elinore Stone does show up in Justice League, then fans can expect to see more of Cyborg than expected. The character will make his debut in the ensemble flick, so there will be a lot of backstory to cover. Fans who are unfamiliar with how Victor Stone came to become Cyborg will need a basic lesson on Elinore’s role in his creation.
In the comics, Elinore was killed in the very same lab accident which turned Victor into Cyborg. The boy comes to visit his parents at S.T.A.R. Labs, but Victor’s father Silas Stone sets off a lab accident that changes the family forever. The scientist opens an inter-dimensional portal on accident and brings a monster into their world. The creature devours Elinore and ultimately mutilates Victor. Silas is able to save his son from the attack, but he’s forced to outfit the boy with high-tech prosthetics which horrify Victor.
Justice League may be planning to investigate Cyborg’s past with some flashback sequences, so fans should bring tissues for the affair. It’s never easy to watch a family undergo a tragedy on-screen, and Bryson might have been brought on to the film just to be killed off in the end.
