Could more than one group of superpowered heroes make their way into Titans?

Earlier this week, DC Comics President and CCO Geoff Johns tweeted about meeting with Ryan Potter, who will be playing Garfield Logan/Beast Boy in the upcoming series. He remarked that he and Potter talked about "all things" related to the character, including green tigers, Halo... and Doom Patrol.

For the uninitiated, the Doom Patrol are a group of misfit superheroes, who have appeared in several different incarnations over the years. The group of "World's Strangest Heroes" has had many members over the years, with a goal of defeating unique villains, including the Brotherhood of Evil.

Beast Boy's lore plays largely into the group, with the character debuting in 1965's The Doom Patrol #99. The group gave Beast Boy his first real outlet to become a superhero, before he ultimately joined up with the Titans. He - and his new teammates - crossed paths with the Doom Patrol plenty of times in the years since. They also played a big role in the Teen Titans animated series, factoring into the fan-favorite 'Homecoming' episode arc.

It's currently unknown exactly how Doom Patrol would factor into Titans, which is set to enter production very soon. Considering their ties to Beast Boy's origins, it wouldn't be out of the question for them to make some sort of appearance, or at least get a mention.

With that in mind, it's unclear exactly what incarnation of the Doom Patrol would make its way into the upcoming series. While Beast Boy's origins are more closely tied to the original roster of the group, it stands to reason that Titans' version of the Doom Patrol would get some sort of modern update. With Gerard Way's newest incarnation of the Doom Patrol earning plenty of praise (and making us clamor for a Doom Patrol feature film) it'd certainly be interesting to see that unique aesthetic brought into live-action.

Titans will premiere on DC's new digital streaming service in 2018.
