The sequel to Wonder Woman is arriving in theaters even sooner than expected.

Warner Bros. has moved the released of Wonder Woman 2 up by six weeks, from December 13, 2019, to November 1, 2019.

Moving the sequel to Wonder Woman out of December and into November allows DC Films and Warner Bros. to beat Star Wars: Episode IX to the box office. The third film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy was originally meant to debut in May 2019 but was pushed to December when JJ Abrams signed on to direct, replacing Colin Trevorrow. Pushing Wonder Woman 2 forward means the film will avoid much direct competition with the goliath Star Wars franchise.

Instead, Wonder Woman 2 is opening on the same weekend that Thor: Ragnarok opened this year, which has worked out pretty well for Marvel's god of thunder.

This announcement follows rumors that star Gal Gadot had laid out an ultimatum stating she would depart the sequel unless Brett Ratner, whose company co-financed the original, was removed from all involvement following accusations of sexual harassment by Ratner on unrelated projects, including X-Men: The Last Stand.

"Brett made a lot of money from the success of Wonder Woman, thanks to his company having helped finance the first movie," a WB insider, said in the intial report. "Now Gadot is saying she won't sign for the sequel unless Warner Bros. buys Brett out [of his financing deal] and gets rid of him."

Wonder Woman 2 currently 3.65 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Rating, making it the 15th most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com Users. Let us know how excited you are for Wonder Woman 2 by giving the movie your own personal ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating below.

Before Wonder Woman 2, Gal Gadot will reprise her role as Wonder Woman in Justice League, opening this Friday, November 17th. That film will be followed in the DC Extended Universe by Aquaman on December 21, 2018, Shazam on April 5, 2019, Cyborg in 2020, and Green Lantern Corps in 2020.
