Destiny 2: Trials of the Nine Map Changes After Found Exploit

Destiny 2 is currently available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players, and new events, strikes, and more are all available for players to conquer within the latest Bungie MMO. As Trials of the Nine officially kicked off and enters into week 2, the developers pulled a fast one to switch out the map once an exploit was discovered by in-game Guardians.

The second week was supposed to see Trials take place on the map Alter of Flame, but that was quickly replaced with a new map as well as a new mode when only two hours after going live, a new bug was found. Bungie immediately took to their Twitter account to address the issue and let players know of imminent changes:

The exploit in question centered around a bug that let Guardians effectively glitch outside of the map to shoot at other players. The game read it as if the offensive players were still in the active map area, but they themselves were protected from recipient fire. The obviously gave an advantage to those that exploited the found glitch, but unfortunately the bug itself was too big for a simple hot fix. Instead, the developing team decided to swap back the Eternity map, the one that week one Trials took place in, rather than let the issue fester and continue to spoil player experience.

Though some might have been looking forward to the event taking place on the Alter of Flame map, it is a good sign that the developers were able to react quickly to fan complaints. Exploits like this are not rare, and are often seen in similar shoots in the genre as well, but it is a relief for those enjoying the game to know that Bungie is actively on call for important fixes.

There is a scheduled maintenance period set for the 25th, hopefully that will tighten up a few of the other known issues found in the game currently; the full list can be found here.

Destiny 2 is currently available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with a PC release slated for October 24th.
