EA Sports titles come out on a very reliable schedule – every year you can expect a new Madden, FIFA, and NHL game around the same time you always get them. An exception to this rule are the EA Sports UFC games. The first one came out in 2014, and a follow-up didn't arrive until nearly two years later in 2016. There just seems to be a less certainty surrounding the EA's UFC series, which each game feeling like it could be the last.

Well, MMA fans, you'll be getting your hands bloody again within the next year, as EA Sports UFC 3 was announced at EA's recent financial briefing. The latest UFC game is slated for quarter four of EA's 2018 fiscal year, which means it will hit somewhere between January 1 and March 31, 2018 (fiscal years run from the beginning of April to the end of March).

EA provided a full look at their 2018 fiscal year game lineup, with quarter two (July through August) being packed with sports titles like Madden 18, FIFA 18, and NBA Live 18, and quarter three (October through December) delivering big non-sports titles like Need for Speed and Star Wars Battlefront II. Currently, EA Sports UFC 3 is the only title stationed in quarter four, which is a time of year EA typically avoids.

Not much is known about EA's next UFC game yet, although it will likely be developed by EA Vancouver, and build on mechanics laid down by past entries in the series. We do know UFC's fighters will likely be very cautious about agreeing to be on the cover as EA Sports UFC has its own version of the infamous "Madden Curse." EA Sports UFC 2 featured Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey on the cover and shortly before the game came out, both of them saw long undefeated streaks come to an end. Heck, Rousey has seemingly yet to recover from the curse.

So yeah, not that we here at WWG the vile vice of gambling, but maybe save a few bucks to put against whoever ends up on the EA Sports UFC 3 box.
