Riot Responds To Why Some League Of Legends Game Modes Keep Returning

With the upcoming weekend bringing about the return of one of League of Legends' most-seen rotating game mode, Riot Games decided to tackle the question of why the Howling Abyss game mode is seen in the rotating queue so often through an Ask Riot post. Unfortunately, the answer seems to be a copy-paste from a previous post despite it being a frequently-asked question, specifically when it comes to what's going on with URF.

Just a few days ago, we reported that the game mode would be coming back for the upcoming weekend, a weekend that will make Legend of the Poro King tied for the most frequent game in the rotation alongside Ascension. While some players were upset at the frequency of the game mode, Riot had a perfectly reasonable explanation for other game modes taking a while considering the transition to the new client, but with recent player posts about Poro King appearing once again, L4T3NCY, the lead designer for the rotating game modes, addressed the topic and explained what's going on with the other game modes, but the statement didn't offer much new information from last month's post.

"We still aim to build new modes and release them as often as we can to you guys (we just released Blood Moon and Dark Star modes this year)," L4T3NCY said again, a repeat of the previous post. "Unfortunately, we can't build a whole Dark Star mode every month though. In between, rather than have nothing at all on the weekends, we bring back some reliable favourites (EG: Ascension & Poro King), so there's still something fun to play when you want a break from the regular game."

The rest of the response matched word-for-word what was in June's update, and readers discerned as much when the Ask Riot session made it to Reddit. A user suspected that it was a copy-paste from elsewhere, and Riot Tummers confirmed that it was a copied from the previous post and apologized for not clarifying that in the Ask Riot update from today.

Within an hour of the post, the inevitable happened in the comments: Players wanted to know what the deal with URF was, the intense, low-cooldown game mode that players clamor for, and why it was not addressed in the most recent post. URF was absent from the Rioter's update just as it was in June's post, and readers quickly noticed. Some claimed that Riot was ignoring URF, others contested the claims that Poro King and Ascension are "reliable favorites," but some defended the claims by saying that it's Riot's data so they would obviously know which game modes are the favorites.

While the insight into the rotating queue and which games are about ready to be featured and the communication is certainly appreciated, some players were left dissatisfied when it comes to the fan-favorite game mode as well as the copy-paste nature of the response.
